How To Book

Crew Information

  • Name: Kristjan Van Wissen
  • Role: Captain
  • Bio: Kris grew up with a love of boating and sailing while living near Lake Simcoe in Ontario, Canada. One of his earliest memories is watching the famous classic yacht, Bluenose II, sailing under full canvas on the Great Lakes. This inspired Kris with dreams of, one day, making a career in yachting. Kris has always enjoyed spending as much time out of doors as possible. After achieving his gold level Duke of Edinburgh Award, he continued as a volunteer, teaching outdoor skills and leading trekking expeditions throughout Ontario. Following high school, Kris joined the Canadian Armed Forces where he served as a paratrooper in an infantry company. At the age of twenty two, he left and joined the British Royal Marines, where he was posted with the RM Adventure Sail Training Centre in Exmouth. On leaving the British Forces, Kris achieved his RYA Yacht Masters qualification and joined a charter company in Croatia as a flotilla captain. Kris has a natural ability to teach and became an RYA instructor for upcoming captains and sailors. His love of travel and a desire to see other sailing areas of the world meant that Kris jumped at the opportunity to deliver a 44 ft catamaran yacht from France to the USA. This was the start of three year adventure that encompassed 75,000 miles of ocean sailing and eight successful Atlantic Ocean crossings. In 2005, Kris met Lizane when she was crew on a yacht he was delivering to the BVI from Cape Town. What started out as a friendship has developed into a strong relationship. In 2007 they found work together with The Moorings charter company in Tortola. A year later we are delighted to welcome them aboard Endless Summer II where they look forward to sharing their love of sailing and the special places of the BVI with their guests. Both Kris & Lizane are PADI qualified dive instructors and will enjoy leading snorkel tours. Kris also enjoys the opportunity to teach the art of sailing and all water sports. He also loves playing bartender and tour-guide to those looking for a little adventure.

  • Name: Lizane Heine
  • Role: Chef & First Mate
  • Bio: Lizane grew up in the sub tropical mountains of Mpumalanga, South Africa. Being an adventurous spirit, she spent her leisure time riding horses, scuba diving and playing underwater hockey. She did well enough in this to represent her province in national competitions. Inspired by her bush pilot father, she became the youngest female acrobatic pilot to partake in air shows in South Africa at the age of 13. She learnt to sail before she was old enough to drive! After completing high school with merit and university exemption, Lizane decided to study both Equine Stud Management and Small Business Management in Johnannesburg. She was one of only a few students who qualified as an international level 1 horse riding instructor. This came in handy later when she worked as an instructor in Muir, Scotland, where she taught handicapped riders to have fun on horse back. During her time at college, she also completed the PADI Scuba diving instructorís course. After studying she pursued her dreams to travel and in 2005 made her first ocean crossing on a delivery from Cape Town to Tortola, meeting Kris as a fellow crew member. This trip was followed by two more deliveries from France to Bermuda. Having now acquired over 15,000 miles of blue water sailing, Lizane was able to obtain the RYA Yacht Master offshore certificate.Looking for some time on solid ground once more, Lizane relocated to the United Kingdom where she first worked in Scotland beofre moving to London. Here she put her experience of waiting tables during school holidays to good practice and quickly became the assistant bar manager for the Grand Junction Arms pub. In 2007 she moved to Canada for a while and worked for the Diamond j Ranch on Prince Edward Island as a horse riding trail guide. Later that year, love for the ocean recalled Lizane. Teaming up with her longtime partner, Kris, as captain she embarked on a new career as a chef on a charter boat for The Moorings charter company in the BVI. Although not professionally trained as a chef, Lizane has always enjoyed cooking and entertaining at home. She has traveled extensively throughout Africa and Europe and enjoyed collecting recipes from the many different ethnic cuisines she has experienced. She incorporates many of these different tastes into her menu. Lizane is artistic and creative. When she isnít cooking, she enjoys painting, sketching, photography, reading, music and dancing. Having experienced diverse cultures and people, Lizane has the ability to make any person feel welcome and relaxed. Although relatively young, Lizane and Kris are building on their existing good reputation for good service to their guests which ensures that they return for another dream come true experience in the BVI.
