- How to Get There from Abroad: A short 2 hour flight north from Sydney brings yacht charterers to Hamilton Island in the heart of the Whitsundays. Qantas offers direct flights from Sydney and Brisbane. If departing from Hamilton Island, fly directly into Hamilton Island Airport (HTI). If departing from Airlie Beach, fly into Proserpine Airport at Airlie Beach (PPP) take the 45 minute taxi to Airlie Beach. Also consider flying into the smaller Whitsunday Airstrip located in Airlie Beach.
