This is the third time I have chartered with The Moorings. They are typically great at accommodating our groups and dealing with multiple payments from various members of the crew. They charge a premium, but you do usually get a boat in great shape, less than two years old. However, this time on Eh Voila we had a couple issues, though nothing which prevented safe sailing. 1. our sail bag ripped away from the guide lines on our first sail (and 99% sure it was not our fault), making it difficult to raise and lower the main sail, and making us look pretty amateur when half our sail was spilling out of the bag once moored. 2. The anchor light was burnt out 3. our dinghies were terrible, very difficult to get started and continually stalled when in neutral or at low speeds. The Service boat was very helpful, however, making two trips for us, once to help us release our anchor from an unmarked underwater cable and once to repair/replace the dinghies. However, we already had missed our New Year's Eve party b/c of the dinghies.
Additionally, we ordered a large number of provisions through the moorings, none of which were on board until well after the appointed time on our day of departure. This turned out not to be a major issue b/c two crew members had flight delays, but it could have kept us at the dock unnecessarily.
I have had three good trips with the Moorings, but for the price, I expect everything to go VERY Smoothly. For my next trip I plan on exploring some other options.- Overall

Great Catana 582. Best in fleet and largest in Tonga. Comfortable, roomy, elegant and I can't wait for next year.
