Firth of Clyde Yacht Charter Summary Information

Sailing past Arran in the Firth of Clyde

The Firth of Clyde, a large, sheltered area of sea off the green coast of Scotland, is a gorgeous stretch of water peppered with a number of islands (both inhabited and uninhabited) that can be visited during a yacht charter. The entrance to the Firth is a bit less than 30 miles wide, and as you sail through it you will begin to understand why numerous songs have been written about the Firth – it’s beauty is unparalleled in Scotland. The various islands in the Firth act as a protecting agent against the wind and as a result the waters are typically very calm. Winds typically blow in from the west at 3 to 6 knots. It’s possible to take a chartered yacht to the Firth and then around parts of the Scottish coasts in one go. Sheltered cruising close to major transportation hubs, with islands, sea lochs, anchorages, marinas and country pubs. Beautiful scenery, and for the more ambitious with over a week, the chance to sail to Ireland or the Hebrides.
