Anchorages in British Virgin Islands
1. Norman Island: This island served as the setting for “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson. The island is uninhabited, but still boasts many popular tourist attractions, including the Caves, the Bight, Willy T's, and Pirate's Bight bar and restaurant. Norman Island is home to a few anchorages including the Bight, Kelly's Cove, Privateer Bay, Benures Bay, Soldier Bay, and Money Bay.2. Manchioneel Bay: Manchioneel Bay is the main anchorage on Cooper Island. Use one of the many moorings if staying overnight, but don't anchor as this is a poor anchorage. Good restaurant, bar and beach on the island but poor snorkeling.
3. Great Harbour: Port of entry to the BVIs and the largest settlement on Jost Van Dyke. Sheltered harbor with 1000 foot peaks surrounding it. Home to the famous Foxy's Bar as well as a few other businesses. No moorings, but plenty of places to anchor.
4. Little Harbour: A good overnight anchorage with decent snorkeling on the North side.
5. Cane Garden Bay: Crescent shaped, palm tree lined beach on the northern side of Tortola. A decent number of moorings scattered throughout. Susceptible to strong northern swells during the winter months.
6. North Sound: North Sound has an expansive bay that is ideal for an overnight anchorage or mooring. This area is secluded, has calm waters, and is beautiful.
