Anchorages in Auckland
1. Kawau Island: Many well protected anchorages are on this bush covered island, especially in the primary Bon Accord Harbour. Here you will find many other boaters scattered throughout the coves, a few moorings, and the Yacht Club on Kawau Island. There are many easy walks over and around the island.2. Bon Accord Harbour: The largest anchorage on Kawau Island and home to the famous Mansion House. Many small coves in this anchorage offer protection in many weather conditions.
3. Islington Bay: Excellent anchorage between Rangitoto Island and Motutapu Island that is under 10 miles from Auckland.
4. Man O War Bay: Man O' War Bay is located on the eastern side of Waiheke. This bay has gained popularity for its good protection from all winds but East. Man O' War Bay is on the isolated side of the island so it is a secluded area.
5. Matiatia Bay: Matiatia is one of the more popular harbours and is also the main ferry entry point to Waiheke. Here, you'll find several yachts moored in the harbour and the land covered with olive groves.
