Anchorages in Abaco
1. Man-O-War Cay: Well protected harbour at the boat building capital of Abacos. Great place to tour the shops or to watch the sunset. This island is dry.2. Hopetown: Beautiful well protected harbor with many marinas and moorings balls available. Hopetown is the main settlement on Elbow Cay, a six mile long Abaco cay, and is home to famous red and white striped lighthouse.
3. Marsh Harbour: Well protected harbour home to many charter companies and shipping traffic. Plenty of moorings, a number of marinas, and many places to anchor.
4. Treasure Cay: Resort community on mainland Great Abaco Island. Sailors are invited to anchor, tie up to a mooring, and dock at the marina here. This harbour is a short walk to the nearby Treasure Cay crescent shaped beach, which consistently ranks upon the top 10 beaches in the world. This anchorage is also a good place to stock up on provisioning.
5. Settlement Harbour: Okay anchorage, but better to pick up a mooring ball or dock at Orchid Bay Marina.
6. White Sound: A narrow entrance protects this great holding grounds. Anchor anywhere in the harbour and enjoy exploring the island either by foot or on a rented golf cart.
